Police Brutality: Amongst African Americans

SOCIAL PROBLEM

The social problem that is described in this paper focuses on police brutality, especially amongst African Americans. However, police brutality can be explained as the police misconduct which also involves the undue violence of the police. Many countries and territories have to face police brutality; which is a crime; it is analyzed that the black community has to face police brutality or injustices. Police brutality is more common towards African Americans as they are racially profiled. The researchers found that police target black males, and there are constant injustices with the African Americans (Thomas).

Regarding the specific examples, there is a need to focus on the FBI data by Vox’s Dara Lind; the study focused that US police kills black people at some disproportionate rate examples, in 2012; there is 31 percent of police killing victims. According to the Washington Post on and US Census estimates it is known that in U.S. Blacks made up 13% of the population and as accounted in the year 2015; 26% of the blacks were killed. In 2016, 24% of blacks were killed, and in 2017, 23% of blacks were killed by police officers. The example of Trayvon Martin can be given; he was unarmed 17-year-old African American; as in 2012, he was killed by police officer George Zimmerman because he looks suspicious. Another example of Eric Garner he was killed in 2014 by a police officer from NYPD (Beer).

LAWS, LEGAL ENTITIES, AND LEGAL POLICIES

There are some specific laws, legal entities as well as the policies that are made to protect the people from police brutality. The rights are given to African Americans and all other citizens so that they can take action with the help of laws. The state police department also focuses on implementing policies that combat police brutality under such a lawsuit; which means that the police also have some rights (Urofsky). The Act of 1994 has the law “Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement” that can be filed by the victim or Attorney Manager; the laws are “file the lawsuits seeking court orders to reform police departments engaging in a pattern or practice of violating citizens’ federal rights.”

This law can protect the citizens and decided limitations of the police officers. These laws are made to protect against police abuse. Fourth Amendment, as well as the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, is focused on the “Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses”; which focus on the Civil Rights Act of 1871; these right civil acts are crucial for the U.S. law in brutality cases and focus on equal protection of the laws to African Americans (Urofsky). These laws are necessary to consider; as these laws discourage discrimination and police brutality, between the ethnic and cultural groups.

SIGNIFICANT EFFORTS

To solve the problem of police brutality, especially amongst African Americans; there were several governmental operations and efforts done by the government of the U.S., however, to focus on the record on criminal justice President Trump’s concerned and remain active so that issues of diverse practices can be resolved. Ex-president Obama also implements the policies for the for the safety of the African Americans and President Trump’s currently dealing with them effectively so that there could be equally under some protected laws and so that police do not target black America or there should not be injustices or any unethical practice with the African Americans (Coaston).

The president did a meeting with the Kanye West so that there could be possible solutions and so that issues regarding police brutality and other diversity issues can be resolved. Through implementing the “stop and frisk” policies in Chicago, the decision was made by the police departments so that there could be effective practices. It is analyzed that police brutality is focused by President Trump so that there could be actions against criminal justice. In Trump administration reform efforts are made for the betterment of the national health, safety, and security (Coaston).

ONE PARTICULAR SOLUTION EFFORT

Various particular solution efforts can be discussed for the resolution of the police brutality, especially amongst African Americans. However, the territories have to face police brutality, and regarding the philosophical concepts, it needs to be noticed that policies for people against police brutality are made for the public administration through the implementation of the government policy. The power in the philosophy can be concerned with the political science or social science as the power organization example, government can focus on the unofficial power phenomena.

However, through using political science concepts, authoritative values by the public authorities are allocated for a society. Thus, it could be noticed that there is a record of criminal justice by President Trump’s so that the problem of police brutality can be resolved. In this way, power is used to prepare civil servants and to maintain the public service effectively. The goals and mechanisms are to influence the state can affect the ability and behavior, and therefore, effective policies that are discussed above are concerned by the government through the decision making; alternative options are also focused by the government’s policy. The political theory is also applied to the police brutality because there is proper enforcement of laws by the authority in the political system (Ballacci).

STRUCTURAL OR LEGAL BARRIERS

There are various structural or legal barriers in implementing the laws related to police brutality amongst African Americans as discussed earlier that African Americans as they are racially profiled, and they are targeted because they commit maximum crimes. As President Donald Trump in the White House took the decisions so that there could be effective steps to promote the criminal justice reform through the 13th Amendment that is also based on the criminal justice reform and police brutality, there are some issues in implementation policies (Coaston).

There are also the social and societal barriers in implementing the laws and in giving rights to file a case against a white police officer because of the social and social stereotyping. It is noticed that police target black males because there is stereotyping that more blacks are involved in the wrong things. However, there are structural or legal barriers in effective planning. The legal responsibilities are not fulfilled due to the lack of legal powers and some cultural attributes; there are still some constraints on political acceptability in society (Ballacci).

POLICY RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended to truly solve the issues concerned with the police brutality amongst African Americans that there is a need to give jobs to a proportionate number of African Americans in the police force so that if African American is killed or spotted in any illegal case, then there could be proper suspecting on the event. Moreover, a police force is the reflection of the community so police officers need to be given proper training that they should not misuse their weapons. The equality and the other laws in the society regarding equality and police brutality need to be implemented for the benefits of the African American population. Trough involving African Americans in the police force there will be a reduction in the high crime areas and blacks can be easily exposed to some horrific events.
