Solution

Introduction

In the project management process, team members have to perform different activities. The role of the project manager is crucial when assigning different project activities in different project phases. Being a project manager, I always intend to focus on these activities to depict the high-quality process and enable the project success. Importantly, the project manager has to shape different activities, which are aligned with different project objectives. Especially in the IT project, the process seems sensible, and the role of the project manager to ensure the success is quite visible.

Project Details

I participated in the project recently. Being a project manager, I directed the project team to perform different activities in an effective and lucrative manner. It was the information system project in the company, as the firm wanted to adopt a new integrated system to improve the internal, business process. I made different projects, goals and objectives and assigned different tasks to different team members.

My project team had to perform several activities in the initiating, planning, executing, controlling and monitoring, and closing processes. The elaboration is as under:

Activities in Project Management

Initiating

In the initiation phase, team members worked with me to gather different project ideas. It was a conception process, which was aligned with organizational goals and objectives. Team members came up with different ideas to conceptualize the new information system. The main activity was the development of ideas, and it was executed well (Burnett, 2012 ).

Planning

In the planning process, the project team defined different tasks which were needed in the whole project process. In this particular phase, each member was triggered by different project tasks. Experts in the project team planned the information system to meet the needs of the company. Interestingly, the project team identified issues in the current database of the company and made a plan regarding some new features.

Executing

The prominent activity in the execution phase was the delegation of work. It experts or specialists worked together to develop an integrated system according to the objectives of the project. In addition, another prominent activity was reporting the process top the project manager to keep the whole process in the loop (Schwalbe, 2015 ).

Controlling & Monitoring

The project team focused on monitoring and controlling to maintain the quality of the project. Different team members estimated the schedule of each task, assigned by the project manager.  The completion of each task such as procurement of material, installment, testing, and completion was necessary, and through appropriate scheduling and estimation, team justified it effectively (Schwalbe, 2015 ).

Closing Processes

The closing process, several activities were finishing touches, final presentations, analysis, and completion of reports regarding the process. Specialist and experts performed these activities and reported directly to the project manager. In the closing phase, the launch of the new integrated system in the company was a prominent activity, and due to some collaborative effort by team members, it was executed well (Burnett, 2012 ).

Impact of PMP on Project Team

The impact of the project management process on the project team is in the limelight. The project management used different process models such as investment process model and three process levels. The execution of these process models in the project process can create an impact on the project team. For Instance, IT project was at the portfolio level, which included the business a case, design, procurement, execution, and closures. The project management team seems assertive when engaging the business case. The system was outdated, and through creating awareness and purpose, the team was motivated to perform activities in an effective manner.  Furthermore, at the portfolio level, the execution process needed modern equipment or tools to meet the purpose. Thus, due to modern equipment or tools, the project team exploited the opportunity of creativity and innovation, and in the end, the company was able to come up with the differentiated information system (Turner, 2014).

Moreover, the impact of PMP on a project team and was visible due to the integration of the program process model. Interestingly, the project management provided the platform to the project team to identify, define, and manage the problem. It created a positive impact on the project team, as the process seemed flexible to exploit skills and find pertinent solutions in the IT project. The implementation of the program process model was a good initiative by the project management. Project team divided effectively, and all members had to find different opportunities to make the process effective. The biggest impact was the assertiveness, and process contained a space for team members to participate in creative and innovative IT project activities (Turner, 2014).

Conclusion

In the end, it is to conclude that each project process may contain different project activities, to be assigned to several team members. Being a good project manager, it looks good to identify the right people for right activities in each project phase. For enhancing the visibility of the positive impact on the project team, it is necessary to use different process models. Based on process models, this IT project in the company gained the success due to the effective flow of work and execution of tasks or activities. From initiation to closure, the project management intended to monitor each activity to align it with the process objectives as well. In this contemporary business environment, defining and shaping these activities is important to eliminate the possible negative impacts. Obviously, project activities shape the project process, and negative impact on the team may cause some disruptions.
