Introduction

Acting with honor, integrity, and accountability is essential in life. It shapes the character and behavior of an individual. Colorado Creed believes in honor, integrity, and accountability. According to his observations, people in CU boulder like to treat each other with a positive attitude. When dealing with students, faculty, staff, and the community, an individual in the CU Boulder is triggered by these values. Being a part of this community, I am a responsible person in society as well.  I have to exhibit these values to become a good contributor to society.

Story from Life

I was working in an organization. I was a part of a Workgroup, which was working on a power project. I was playing the role of a team leader, and all team members respected me and tried to learn from me. Other members of the team honored me, and it was the most significant achievement for me in an organization. However, sometimes, an individual has to face some crucial situations when working with other people. The most important thing is to get rid of this situation with a controlled temperament.

I had to make a choice. The operational manager asked me to make some changes to improve efficiency and enable rapid work to complete the project on time. Accordingly, I decided to choose some workers to distribute and delegate the work.  It is a fact that some people in the group wanted to control the group by working independently. Group members were impacted by choice.  Being a team leader, I was quite aware of it. I had to follow instructions and guide members. I started delegating the work, which caused resistance from some group members. It was the time when honor was tested.  So far, they respected me. However, when I decided to make some changes, they had some reservations. They thought that I facilitated some of my favorite employees or group members. They became rude, and it was a moment of embarrassment.

Also, the group was divided into two groups. The employee resistance hit integrity.  I   always like to work in a team and show integrity to achieve personal and organizational goals and objectives.  However, integrity was tested there. Immediately, I had to control the situation to restart or sustain the work process.  I conducted several meetings with employees a considered their reservations.  I also came up with a rationale to defend myself.  The negotiation worked for me, and I managed to reunite the group.  According to experience, qualification, and skill level, I delegated the work

Accountability was also tested in this whole scenario. For Instance, after delegating the work, I made every teammate responsible for his work. I made them accountable, as they have to demonstrate their progress every week. Conversely, I was also accountable, as I had to report to the operations manager. The operational manager trusted me, and sometimes, he used to ignore my reports. It was the accountability test, as I compelled him to check my report regularly to avoid possible project uncertainties. Thus, it made me accountable in an organization. It shaped my character, as I integrated with different people who contain different behaviors, values, and personality traits. I got the character to treat these people.

Conclusion

In the end, it is to conclude that honor, integrity, and accountability are some fundamental values, which contribute to personal development as well. These are truer leadership qualities, and I have to sustain them to emerge as a better contributor in both society and organizations. Interactions with fellow students, faculty, staff, and the community enhanced my experiences. Now, I am quite aware of complex situations and determined to keep these values to inspire others as well.
