Explain the differences, importance, and purpose of both the code of conduct and the code of ethics. Secondly, tell me about some of the factors that you would use to make ethical hiring decisions in an organization. Why would these be important to include in the hiring process (Example of things that you might include: Legal Ground Rules or other items in our reading material or library that would be considered in the process).

Abstract

Code of ethics and code of conduct are two necessary documents of the company. It is important to integrate all operations or aspects of the business with the ethics and conduct. Code of ethics depicts the behavior of people in the business, and conversely, the code of conduct depicts some action plans. After defining these, the importance of the code of ethics and code of conduct has been elaborated. This elaboration is completed regarding the business and all its key stakeholders. Moreover, the role of the ethics and conduct has been streamlined through justifying the purpose and rationale of an organization. Normally, in the business, the ethics and conduct are valued by all key stakeholders. However, there is a prominent difference between these two terms. The difference has been illustrated regarding tenure, behavior, actions, scope, practices, and evolvement.   Thus, after elaborating the difference, the importance and purpose, hiring process and integration with the ethical considerations are examined. Some prominent ethical factors in the hiring process are legality, company ethics, and relevancy. Some key examples such as communicating the right pay scale and legal ground rules are evaluated along with some key insights. Interestingly, these examples are linked with the hiring process of the company. After examining these examples, some conclusive statements are presented that depicts the key relationship between hiring process and code of ethics of the company. These are some ethical considerations that every company must carry to create a good impact on all key stakeholders.

Introduction

The importance of the ethics and conduct in an organization is in the limelight. In every aspect of the business, the ethics and conduct create an impact that is quite visible. The code of conduct refers to several standard actions that are important for the company. The code of conduct depicts specific behaviors, which are prohibited or required in an organization, as far as ongoing employment process is concerned. Conversely, the code of ethics refers the set of different principles, which are used or considered in the decision-making process (Andrade, Hamza, & Xara-Brasil, 2017). It seems interesting to integrate these two terms in the hiring process of the company.

Importance, Difference & Purpose

Relative to the difference between the ethics and conduct, the code of ethics is an inspirational document that creates some values in an organization. Conversely, company’s conduct seems a document that streamlines some prominent practices in the company.   The ethical principles seem general, and conduct looks specific to the firm. Interestingly, organizational ethics has been triggered by the decision-making process in the organization. On the other hand, the company’s conduct depicts some action plans.  The company ethics may evolve with the passage of the time, and comparatively, the code of conduct is to be retained for a long run in an organization (Beeri, Dayan, Vigoda-Gadot, & Werner, 2013)

Ethics, and conduct are important to the company, as these processes regulate the firms in the competitive business environment. Every organization needs a certain behavior in both, internal and external business process, and through the perfect implementation of these two terms, the company can express the specific culture. Obviously, the impact on the business operations and outputs is quite visible, and it justifies the significance of both.

The purpose of the ethical regulations of the company is to demonstrate some core values when carrying the professional work. It seems essential to adopt the certain behavior when performing different duties. The purpose of the code of conduct is to communicate some expectations of the company to employees and all key stakeholders (Gaumnitz & Lere, 2002).

Factors in ethical hiring in an organization

Legality

In the hiring process, the prominent factor is the legality. It seems pertinent to carry some legal implications when containing the hiring process in the company. The human resource management of the company must integrate with the legal factor to depict the hiring ethics. For Instance, in the hiring process, the discrimination is strictly prohibited, as it is also prohibited by the law. The management should evaluate every applicant according to set criteria to provide equal opportunity to all applicants (Messmer, 2003).

Company Ethics

Another factor is the execution of the company ethics. For Instance, in the hiring process, it is important to create the panel, which is impartial. The favoritism due to the possible relationship with applicants is not a good practice in the hiring process. It kills the merit I the hiring process and sidelines skills and qualifications of other applicants (Schwartz, 2017).

Personal Information

Furthermore, in the hiring process, the company management should avoid the exploitation of the personal information. Some key information or insights are not to be revealed by the company. Also, asking the personal questions in the hiring process is also unethical practice. When conducting the structured or unstructured interview, it is necessary to ask only relative questions. It is the prominent ethical consideration, which creates the good impact on different candidates (Gaumnitz & Lere, 2002).

Importance of Factors

It is a fact that these factors are important in the hiring process. These are some key ethical considerations, which can create the good impact candidates and culture of the company. It has been revealed that illegal or unethical hiring process in many organizations results in the weaker employee forces, which also create a negative impact on the work efficiency and productivity. Beyond the hiring, ethics, avoidance of these factors is not in favor of the company. When the management of the company considers these factors in the hiring process, it can have the best talent in the company. Moreover, through implementing some ethical, some legal complications also be avoided (Andrade, Hamza, & Xara-Brasil, 2017)

Examples

Some examples can be elaborated to justify the importance of the hiring, ethics in an organization.  These examples clarify the role of ethics or code of ethics of the company when hiring new employees (Messmer, 2003).

Legal Ground Rules

In an organization, the management intends to integrate with the employment act, legislated by the government in the country. The most important thing is to link the code of ethics in the hiring process with the employment act. It justifies the hiring legally and ethically.   Legal ground rules are triggered by the equal employment opportunities in the company (Weiss, 2014).

Wage/Salary

Sometimes, the candidate does not know the industry’s standard pay scale system or trends. Thus, instead of taking some benefits regarding money, the HR management should communicate the right salary or wage, which is set for the particular job position (Beeri, Dayan, Vigoda-Gadot, & Werner, 2013).

Conclusion

In the end, it is to conclude that the ethical considerations in the hiring process of the company are necessary.  It ensures benefits for both candidates and the company.  The code of ethics and code of conduct shape the behavior of people in the company, and to gain and sustain the success and long-term business sustainability, the successful execution of these two terms is essential.
