Discuss the pros, cons and implications of the proliferation of social networking tools being used in news reporting, such as blogs, Facebook, YouTube, Reddit and Twitter. These so-called news sources have been credited with becoming a primary news source for many in younger demographic groups. Are these the new channels of news distribution, merely a trend or something else entirely? Is the news you get through social media recommendations true? How would you deal with improving the quality of such news if you were in charge at Instagram?
Social media networks have become the source of news. Young people around like to be on these social media channels to be updated. The biggest advantage to using social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Blogs, and Reddit is the rapidness. People can get immediate information about a particular event. Another advantage is the review for feedback. People, especially young customers, like to provide feedback on particular information or news. Traditional media channels intend to make different pages on these platforms to streamline news and blogs. The biggest advantage of social media news channels is a lack of authenticity. It has been revealed that most of the information on these social media channels is a rumor. Even traditional media have to clarify some rumors being spread on these channels (Dredge, 2014).
News on social media channels has become a key trend in this contemporary era. People are using mobile phones to get information on tire busiest schedule. It can be said that social media news is a need of today’s world. However, it is to be regulated to bring authenticity. Regulating the social media news is imperative to make these platforms as key alternatives. These are swift platforms to spread the news around the globe, and it is to be sustained. Social media news is not recommended true. It is due to the lack of authenticity of news sources. People usually perceive this fake news true. Being in charge at Instagram, I would like to improve the news quality by depicting the authenticity measures. Strict regulations can bind reporters or page owners to post pertinent news. Adopting basic journalism principles is a good approach to bring authenticity, accuracy, and quality. To make it a quality alternative, an implementation of media or journalism is important, being an in charge of Instagram (Lydon, 2018).
