The secret behind this upper of the trainer is a design triumph which took months of beavers in the labs of Nike who at last was successful in devising a humbler shoe upper which is at the core a single thread. Analysis
By looking at it from the lens of innovation, it can be seen that the aim has been to create breakthroughs which will aid in improving the world and for the betterment of the athletes as well as for the betterment of the investors as well. The company has rewritten the old system of belief in which sustainability was taken as a cost or a price for goodwill. The company about a decade ago was the poster child for bad globalization. The old model has been sought around giving peanuts to the workers and pricing high. The charges of environmental shortcuts were then charged on Nike. It had led Nike to send in its troops and with continuous improvement in marshalling its suppliers in line.
Convincingly, the company has done everything to establish compliance in its supply chain with sustainability. The company does not believe in becoming less bad regarding sustainability and innovative ideas. The focus on ambition is translated in the strategy of Nike towards sustainability. The urgency seen in the scale of the corporate social responsibility programs which has increasingly taken things upward is witnessed in the Nike innovative sustainability efforts. The external factors of scarce natural resources and equal access to the economic opportunity are limited with the passage of time, and Nike realizes this.
The sustainability stands of the company have become the nexus of transformations. It has been the reason for the call of innovative sustainability efforts. Nike has admitted that on a systematic level its efforts are not enough to initiate any meaningful change. It insists on changing together as a system. Yet, when considered in the fierce rivalry in the apparel industry, leaves little hope. However, Nike is still trying its best.
It shows that the company has not been after putting up a good name but is following sustainability at its core. The clothing line and shoes generated has more waste than anyone realizes. However, the Nike stand on its waste reduction and sustainability is certainly innovative and encouraging. The company’s more than two-thirds part uses the Nike Grind which is the recycled polyester which cuts waste out of its manufacturing process. The engineers have reduced the waste by 60% as compared to the traditional shoes. These efforts show the true spirit of Nike innovative sustainability efforts (Doshi, 2018).
