Describe what the words political machine mean to you. How does the political machine affect you and your family?
To me, political machine means a political establishment, which is constituted by mainstream political parties. It must be understood that in a country or state, there could be several political parties, with different agendas and objectives. However, it is the mainstream political parties, which constitute political establishment and thus the political machine. I also believe that this political machine or political establishment is strongly influenced by large corporations, which political role has increased dramatically over the years (Kurtzleben, 2016).
It is the political parties, which identify political-economic goals and when these political parties come to power, they set political-economic agenda and they exploit state resources to meet these political-economic objectives. Some political parties believe that government should not intervene in the economic system on any pretext, whereas some parties believe that government should intervene to ensure high employment and sustainable economic growth (Kluver & Sagarzazu, 2016).
Political machine or establishment, to me there is the minute difference between the two that can be comfortably ignored, also impacts society with its policies and regulations, For instance, policies regarding the immigration impacts both economy and society. Society, I believe, must be diverse, so that its pace of progress can increase rapidly.
In a number of ways political machine or the establishment impact me and my family. The economic goals are identified by political parties. It is the political parties, which device policies regarding the volume of tax than to be levied upon my income. It is the government, a manifestation of will of state and representative of the political establishment, which take the measure of political and social stability. Therefore, political machine impacts hugely both individual and community.
I understand that the political machine is a very broad term, which generally means a large political group, with the authoritative boss, using political means to benefit from the system directly or indirectly. However, I believe that the political establishment fits properly into this broad definition.
