Top Talent-Machines are Better Than Humans

Do you believe that machines can do a better job at picking top talent than humans? Why or why not?

I believe that machines work better than human beings because machines can perform effectively and fairly as compared to human beings. In the case of human beings, there are chances of errors and bias behavior. It needs to be focused that human beings did not have that technical skill that the computer or machines have, the computer works faster than people and there can be an analysis of many personalities and their cognitive skills in every time. As studied in the article also, it is known that machines work better as through run an algorithm, there can be the selection of the high-potential candidates or best candidate can be selected because human nature can predict wrong about someone and there could be the worst selection.

There can be many other things, or machines that can bring efficiency and result in fair behavior compared to the human being (Greenfield, 2015). It needs to be focused that effective algorithm works in strategic management as compared to the managers. I believe that human errors can be there when it comes in comparison to machines because human nature cannot analyze many things or skills of people as much as the computer.  However, the importance of humans cannot be ignored. For Instance, machines are to be made by humans. Companies like Google Inc have tried to hire people through using multiple assessments to predict the performance of humans. Obviously, they want to predict the performance in terms of machine learning and technological skills (Bock, 2015)

Research the topic of using assessments for hiring and summarize your findings. What are the pros and cons of each?

For the assessments for hiring, it needs to be known that companies can focus on effective hiring by using the computer system as they are fast and can evaluate many people at a time. There is a significant improvement in the field, and it needs to be noticed that hiring managers can be overconfident or biased when they are hiring people. However, if managers focus on the personality of the candidates only then there could be worse hires. There are pros of hiring people through the computer system; as the system could measure productivity, better than the human being (Greenfield, 2015).

Moreover, for the cons, the issues concerned with the no statistical evidence, hiring algorithms can also be unfair sometimes because there may be an analysis of the skills of employees only, and there may not focus on the needs, personality, or another aspect of hiring. Hiring varies from field to field, as there could be different types of hiring process that need to focus on every company. The performing calculations may not be accurate and the time, as systems do not understand human nature. It needs to be concerned that there could be speed and precision in computer hiring in the modern workplace, which can also be a more decisive device sometimes (Greenfield, 2015).  Companies usually make mistakes when assessing any candidate in the selection process. The most common mistake is choosing the assessment, which does not validate (Talentadmin, 2013)

Did your opinion change after you researched the topic?

My opinion totally changes after reading the article as in the article there is the proper focus on the advantages that are there in the computer or machine hiring as people cannot effectively manage the candidates and their skill may not be effectively evaluated. However, in the case when companies need to hire fewer employees from the maximum, then machine hiring can be the best option because there are no chances of bias behavior. My opinion changed after reaching the topic. For Instance, I realized that pre-hiring assessment is a good move by the company to select the best candidate for the particular job position (Moore, 2018)

From the experiences of my personal life, I have seen many people on the job who are not capable, however; those people got the job because of the preferences in the selection by the hiring managers. In the case of the hiring process, I noticed that the computer could effectively evaluate one much better than the human because there are various aspects of human personality that a person cannot judge at the minimum time. However, a computer can. Through involving computer-based selection, the company could be saved from the worst selection. Therefore, it needs to be noticed that every company should involve computers or machines when hiring and there is the need to run an algorithm for the selection of the best and highest-potential candidates.
