Chapter one: Liberty and Liberties

Summary of Chapter one: Liberty and Liberties

The chapter “Liberty and Liberties” illustrates the relationship between an individual and liberty in the country. In a country, if an individual is not subject to coercion, he contains the freedom. However, this chapter is quite directive as far as the difference between liberty and freedom is concerned. Sometimes, both terms can be used in the same sense. However, these are slightly different, especially when we use to navigate different aspects of the society. In developed countries, people depict their political freedom, as they can choose their representative, take part in the legislation. In other words, people use to take part in their own choice of government and enhance the visibility of administrative control. The difference comes from different regions. For Instance, in the United States and Columbia, young people, who have no share in voting systems, cannot enjoy the liberty. Thus, numbers of people are limited when it comes to the political freedom or liberty. The political system and society depict different perception of freedom or liberty. A child may grow up in the society, and he must have to be within social limits. Thus, visibility liberty or freedom cannot be implemented in this sense. Every individual or intellectual in the county or society has a right to define the freedom of liberty. Of course, everyone may define it differently according to his own perceptions and integrations. Well, normally, people depict the freedom in the absence of coercion. This is a fact that an individual or people, to contain complete freedom, have to make their own decisions in different things.

A person may implement what he thinks, and it is a freedom, which has been generally perceived by people.  Interestingly, individual freedom is also linked with the national freedom in doing different things. The collective freedom comes into the life when we elaborate the country as a whole. This has been revealed and intentions of individuals and groups are quite different regarding the liberty and freedom.  A person, who is containing the freedom, may enjoy social, political and civil liberties in the country. On the other hand, liberty is all about making decisions freely and taking the responsibility of all acts.  In modern democratic countries, people usually contain liberty, as they have power act. Interestingly, people can also speak with any restraints or barriers. This, it seems pertinent to keep these concepts apart. In western countries, there is a culture of individualism, which supports or facilitates both, liberty and freedom.  It depends on the government in the country that how many opportunities it provides to people. Perhaps, people usually wait for some opportunities to make decisions and take action. Therefore the chapter also portrays the linkage between the liberty and freedom.

Inner, political power and liberty have been defined differently in this chapter, as these are not in the same state. This chapter also defines or elaborates out the intentions in choosing the states of liberty. For Instance, people have to decide that which liberty needs high value and make decisions accordingly.   The chapter also shows the intentions of government when it makes rules and regulations for people. There are some rules and regulations, which are to be imposed on people. Thus, it seems good to examine people’s behavior in terms of enjoying the liberty, due to these rules and regulations, if an individual is not vulnerable to coercion, he is containing the liberty. Conversely, if an individual is vulnerable to coercion, there are other states of liberty, which can be linked. Thus, in countries, different perceptions of people are quite visible. Several insights, differences have been elaborated in this chapter, which let us understand terms in an effective manner (Hayek, 2011 ).

Opinion on Arguments for Chapter one: Liberty and Liberties

I think Hayek tried to elaborate some insights and differences between liberty and freedom in the country. He mentioned several stakeholders in the country and depicted the impact on freedom and liberty. In my opinion, an individual may contain the liberty in the country, despite having the social limits rules and regulations. Interestingly, people cannot be completely free from different things, as they have to limit them to sustain the life. For Instance, if someone wants to make the decision independently, he may identify his limits first and choose several alternatives differently. The intentions of Hayek are good in this chapter, as it separated different states of liberty.

According to my thoughts, inner liberty or freedom mater a lot in the society, as it leads towards the personal satisfaction, which is actually a real liberty. Having the power to act and speak with barriers may not be a complete liberty due to any divisions, created by Hayek in this chapter. Integrating my opinion with the insights from the chapter, I think coercion creates an impact on the personality of an individual. Ultimately, due to the negative impact, the liberty and freedom in the country may be damaged. In addition, the most important thing for people is to give value to the particular state of liberty. For Instance, perceptions and intentions of people may be changed due to the different factors such as political interventions or acts. Thus, it seems imperative to identify things, which integrate socially and make decisions accordingly. My opinion resembles the Hayek’s thoughts in this chapter, as I also believe in both, freedom and liberty. These are two different terms, and every man can contain these terms in the country. In the modern country, where democratic culture works, being at liberty is the best practices to make better decisions and contribute in an effective and lucrative manner.

Chapter Two: Creative Power of Free Civilization

Summary Of Chapter Two: Creative Power of Free Civilization

In this chapter “Creative Power of Free Civilization” depicts different factors regarding the initiation of civilization and ignorance. This chapter revolves around the creative power of free civilizations in different regions. Summarizing the aspects, illustrated in the chapter, it has been revealed that the civilization emerges with the passage of the time when people use our knowledge. For Instance, people or individual have to come up with the boundaries of both civilization and ignorance. In this chapter, the author has come up with the opinions and thoughts of experts and professionals. This is a fact that when an individual or a group of people ignore something, it leads towards the imperfection. When living in the society, it is important to consider what is important and what is to know. Instead of focusing in on new knowledge, the intention in the society must be on discovering existing knowledge. It seems essential to know the range of the ignorance if we want to know something, which can form a prominent civilization.  Interestingly, in this chapter, there is also a perception that an individual must have to know what is done when creating the civilization. When people gave to make the changes, they must know the purpose of the civilization and the rationale of forming civilization.

A learning process in the civilizations exists always, and it depends on humans how much they learn or evolve. The human mind may be evolved due to the existing knowledge. Creative power in free civilizations comes to the surface when people know different things and identifies what are the changes, which are to be conducted. Obviously, there is a need for conscious knowledge, which directs an individual in the formation of the civilization. The most important thing is to manipulate the knowledge to derive insights and make decisions in the best interest of the civilization. In a society, the explicit knowledge of individuals is also in the fame, as it enables the free and creative thinking. Understanding of several arguments is also necessary, which has been elaborated in this chapter. Visibly, scientific research is a good option to know things in the civilization. However, sometimes, it cannot justify the needs of change. A source of the information is critical, as it can help enable people to gain the right information at the right time. Knowledge is proud of an individual, but knowledge contains some limitations.  Similarly, the accumulation and transmission of knowledge can be implemented or executed in the evolvement of the civilization.

This chapter also describes the impact of environmental factors on the civilization and its environment. The environment may be changed from generation to generations, and obviously, thinking and perceptions may be changed. Free civilization demonstrates the free habits, practices, and activities. Based on impacts, for instance, environmental impact, human activities m habits and practices may be altered to meet current needs. Thus, in this chapter, the creative power of free civilizations has been expressed and triggered by the evolvement. The chapter accelerated the visibility of aptitudes and opportunities along with the combinations of these two factors to find the right directions in creating the free civilization. The adaptation process and new patterns are the society are two important sources for people to evolve. Intellectual thinking in the society is also a big source, which can help people to make changes and know more about the society and living process, and this is all that the chapter has elaborated. Thinking differently produces results, which create an impact on all key stakeholders. Creativity emerges with freedom or liberty, and it is also a part of the chapter theme (Hayek, 2011 ).

Opinion on Arguments For Chapter Two: Creative Power of Free Civilization

According to my opinion, Hayek described the free civilization along with different aspects quite exceptionally. I think, to evolve the civilization, knowledge is a powerful source. Based on knowledge people can identify what is missing or what is to be done in the society. Importantly, according to my thoughts, people must have to think creatively to make good changes.  Remarkably, the implementation or application of scientific research has produced quality results, and similarly, it can also be used when existing in the civilization. Of course, when evolving, people have to set new norms and values, and based on knowledge about different social environmental factors the success can be attained.  I agree with the views of Hayek in this chapter a, as he examines the changes in the human minds. The creative power of free civilizations is highly vulnerable to change, and people, living in the civilizations are quite up to it.

Furthermore, I think the role of government in the free civilization process is crucial. It must provide different opportunities for people to derive the insights regarding new trends and make decisions freely. The creative powers, which can be obtained from this chapter according to my thoughts, are necessities. For Instance, a common thing was luxury for early adopters in today’s world, luxury things will become necessities in the future. Thus, this is a process of innovation, according to Hayek, and I am agreeing with it. People unintentionally and then intentionally performers several practices. However, when it comes to the knowledge, existence and the manipulations, people depict their practices intentionally. The creativity in the civilization is linked to the innovation process. Through creativity and innovations into a society, the chances of development process increase. However, I also believe in the space for idealists in the society to make changes with rationale.
