Teams Characteristics, Diversity in Teams, Team Processes, Communication within Teams -Write a reflection paper. Your paper will be graded based on the quality of your comments on the test/assessment, your reflection of the results, and relating the results to your work situation and/or other “real-life” experience. A general discussion of your understanding of the topics and discuss how the topics are connected to each other.
You could talk about how two constructs in the same module related to each other. Think about how motivation, stress, justice, and personal values unfold in team processes and leadership. Also, I want you to think about organizations from a multi-level perspective. That means, what happens within the team may not perfectly reflect what happens with the organization as a whole. For example, you may like your organization and the job you are doing, but some team members just irritate you and significantly hinders your performance. You may dislike your workplace environment but like your leader very much because he/she is very caring and developmental. Your attitudes and behaviors may vary depending on the level (i.e., organizational level, team level, individual level) we are referring to.
INTRODUCTION
Working in different teams is a wonderful experience for me. In different organizations, a person has to contain specific or pertinent behavior to contribute to the success of the team in an effective and lucrative manner. Motivation, stress, justice, and personal values are some key elements, which can create an impact on team performance and the leadership of the company. Due to the impact on several stakeholders, the behavior and attitude towards the work are quite visible. I have experienced many things, and being a good learner, I have adopted many aspects to gain and sustain success.
TEAM PROCESSES AND LEADERSHIP
In the team process, the division of role and responsibilities is important. Being a part of the team, I like to be assigned pertinent tasks according to my experience and skills. However, stress becomes visible due to overwork. The limited team members usually have to do extra work, and it seems a big source of stress. On the other hand, it has been revealed that the management of the company has to maintain an effective team-building process regarding performance appraisal and measures. Justice comes into life when all the team members are equally evaluated. Being a part of the team, injustice is a big barrier to motivation. For instance, I was a part of the team in the project, and other team members were rewarded by the team management despite containing less contributions than me. It was the depiction of injustice. Obviously, in the team process, motivation comes from reward, equity, working environment, effective leadership, and justice.
MULTILEVEL PERSPECTIVE
When working in the organization, I have experienced that some team members create some barriers to individual performance. Unfortunately, I was the victim of it. For Instance, despite having good working conditions and the support of the top management, team members irritated me through different unfair actions. Thus, there was a lack of motivation, which also created a negative impact on performance. Overall, it also creates a negative impact on team performance. Another perspective is the workplace environment. For Instance, the leadership of the company is effective, but working condition is not suitable. I was a part of an organization in which leaders were supportive and caring. However, I did not want to stay in the company, as workforce safety was not maintained. Team members got frightened a die to poor working conditions, and I was the first man to step down.
DEPENDING ON THE LEVEL
At the individual level, self-confidence to perform well is a great motivation, as it worked for me in the company. On the other hand, at the team level, the work behavior was changed, as team members were prominent factors. I intended to maintain the relationship as well. At the organization, the behavior and attitude seemed aggressive due to the support and appreciation of the top leadership. Attitude and behavior evolve with time at different levels in the company.
CONCLUSION
In the end, it is to conclude that the performance and quality of the team are not to be compromised. Being a part of many teams, quality, and integration with core values were main priorities. The behavior and attitude were changed due to different interventions at different levels. The role of the team management to streamline the performance and contribution of the team and members is in the limelight. I have learned many things from the team process, and in future, I will be in a better position to enhance the visibility of my performance and contributions.
