During this time, his political stature has damaged, which has forced him to spend his political capital. This long investigation has frustrated the head of state, and during this period, he took controversial measures that amount to the undermining of the investigation. Also, as per the article, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also bribed or influenced part of the media to undermine the ongoing investigation. Furthermore, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is also compelling investigators to complete their investigation by next week. Concept: In this article, the concept of Rule of Law has been discussed subtly. As per this concept, no one is above law and law applies to all with no exception. It is the essence of any democratic system.
DISCUSSION
It is quite apparent that investigation, against the most powerful person in Israel, is a good sign regarding the health of Israeli democracy. However, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu can influence the investigation and use a section of media to influence the investigation. It suggests that Israeli democratic systems and its state institutions have not matured enough and they are not able to effectively and independently conduct an investigation.
It is imperative to acknowledge that without the rule of law, democracy cannot survive for long. It is essential as it is considered the soul of the democratic system. However, when States are not able to apply laws and regulations on a particular segment of society, the democracy starts to crumble. Therefore, it is essential that state institutions function independently and must be able to deliver their obligations without fear and any problem.
