Why conservatives aren’t buying Sen. John McCain’s Trump-bashing
SUMMARY AND CRITICAL ANALYSIS
John McCain and Trump spat started during the election campaign, of 2016, when then Candidate for President, Donald Trump took said that he does not consider John McCain a war-hero, as war-heroes do not get caught This remark, which also had the background, started the controversy, which exists to this date. It is apparent that there is an immense difference between the political views of two individuals; however, this political fight has turned into a personal fight, where both the opponents do not shy from making personal comments (Bauerlein).
Senator John McCain has a towering image in Republican Party, and he is admired for his services to the United States as politician and soldier; however, despite his status and respect in conservative-base, of United States, his political narrative, regarding President Trump, is being received. In other words, currently, Republican voter-base is not very receptive of Senator McCain and do not endorse his rhetoric against Donald Trump. There are various reasons, which include his failure to stop President Obama from becoming United States President (Bauerlein).
OPINION
I believe that political narrative/rhetoric, of John McCain, against President Trump, has weakened because conservatives presume it to be a personal fight and not a political disagreement. Also, John McCain political stance has remained very fluid over the years, and some of his remarks have not resonated well with the conservative voter-base of the United States, who votes Republican Party. It must be acknowledged that Donald Trump’s victory, against Hillary Clinton, is still fresh. Also, they believe that media/critics are extraordinarily harsh towards President Trump. All above-mentioned factors give ample time to President Trump to work according to his policies by avoiding much of the criticism. I believe that many Republicans think that it is too early to pull President’s legs and he must be allowed to implement his vision/policy. Therefore, McCain is not able to inflict serious damage with his political rhetoric against the President.
