Statement of Purpose-MS in Business Analytics

I remember that as a football fan and a player in my college life, I was fascinated by the exploit of data to predict the performance of the teams and individual players by the experts. I was astonished at such useful and mesmerizing use of hard facts and numbers for the prediction of the future performance and trends. Not only then, but also later in my life, I realized the power of data analytics and its substantial role in the field of business and its success. The resultant effect of the data analytics on the production and then subsequently on the sales of the organizations is very crucial (Márquez & Lev, 2015).

My career in the field of marketing started after I completed my graduation in Mass Media, and started working as celebrity Public Relations Executive holding accounts of celebrities like Renowned Singer Kailash Kher and International Model Claudia Ciesla. For further strengthening of my foundation for the marketing career, I chose to enroll in MBA with a major in marketing.

During this period, I was especially attracted to the field of Market research. My interest in it made me look for a job in this field, and I started looking for a suitable position at Market Research firms. After going through the rigorous interview process with Nielsen, I succeeded in winning the position of Consumer Demand Analyst. This phase, as a Demand Analyst shaped my way forward, and here I am, sending a statement of purpose for MS in Data Analytics.

Being in the field of marketing has exposed me to many challenging situations which have made me only stronger. It was acknowledged many times by my management in the form of recognizing my efforts and awarding me with the title of “Emerging Talent,” and by being only the second person to receive an award during probation period in the organization. I actively participate in Nielsen Care and Green Team. These teams conduct volunteer CSR activities. I have already taken courses in programming languages like C++, Java, R, SAAS, and Tableau.

Working with global innovation teams of various clients like P&G, Nestle, Coca-Cola, Pfizer, Kellogg and many others, I realized the scope of this field has made it a global phenomenon. It can tell everything starting from the buying behavior, to the thought process of the target consumers (Girard, 2015). The power of this field and the vast opportunities can offer assist me to pursue an MS in Business Analytics as I have the intention to do a Ph.D. in Business Analytics in the future. I want to be one of those decision-makers who can determine the tide of businesses across the globe (Saxena & Srinivasan, 2012).

My current work experience is not enough to fulfill my thirst for Big Data’s knowledge, and hence I am confident that pursuing this degree would not only quench my thirst, but would also aid me in capturing the granular details of the field as well. I am confident that the combination of my experience in marketing, with proficient skills in software languages, will aid in bringing diversity to the class.

Your Business Analytics program looks the ideal choice to me. I am very excited to get admission in your institution for the course of MS in Business Analytics. I have a strong feeling that shortly this field is going to attract individuals with the unique combination of experience and education for more diversity. And for that time, I wish to be well prepared for any challenge that comes my way.
