1-SELF-LEADERSHIP STRATEGIES
Through reading the case from the book, the character of Jen seems in the limelight. Jen, a departmental manager in the company, is depicting some effective self-leadership strategies, and the self-observation is on top in this regard. In the company, Jen is looking forward to containing the self-improvements through self-observation. For Instance, even in the hectic conditions or circumstances in the company, and she put things in the comfort zone and focuses on her strength. Self-Observation is an effective self-Leadership strategy, which makes all tasks or operations a quite smooth along with the personal satisfaction. She makes the list of pending tasks and analyzes her performances despite having different issues and urgencies in the operational process. Interestingly, she contains remarkable relations with the employee, which enhances the work delegations, motivation, and confidence to deal with the different problems.
Another self-leadership strategy, which has been derived from this book is thinking and behaving positively instead of losing temper due to uncertainties in the business process. When it comes to the leadership, it is useful for a leader to inspire others. The employees, accordingly, use to follow the behavior of the leader and enjoy working on different tasks, which are sturdy and robust to manage in limited time. Keeping ourselves calm and motivated is an effective strategy in the self-leadership, which depicts adaptability and versatility in the individual performances (Neck, Manz, and Houghton 25).
Another Self –leadership strategy in the book is personal effectiveness. It is all about creating the self-belief to be always triumphant. In personal effectiveness, a leader may depict confident in all aspects, even when answering the critical questions from critics. Self-belief and confidence make the leader entirely different from another, and ultimately, the stakeholders or employees can follow consequently (Neck, Manz, and Houghton 27).
2-SELF-LEADERSHIP PROFILE& INFLUENCE
The character of Jen is competent and assertive, which inspire me to become an active leader. When I look at Jen’s profile, a departmental manager in the company, she seems so confident of her tasks and beliefs. For Instance, she is facing the issues of high cost of material and defective delivery items. However, she is quite confident to get all things solved sharply, and she does. For me, the character Jen is right for me to adopt different things such as confidence, self-belief, and personal effectiveness (Neck, Manz, and Houghton 36).
Thus, when working in different organizations, I would like to meet the business issues with some sharp techniques. For Instance, making and sustain good relations with the employees can help me to share the work burden. I can observe my strengths in the workplace and want to pursue different tasks. If I face any issue, I would not entirely involve in the problem-solving process, as I would believe o my employee to handle the issues in the best interest of the company. I have to be sure of my tasks and never mismanage the activities, which are pending. Being an active leader in the organization, I can contain a desirable pattern of thinking, which can give me a direction in the company. I must know in what ways things are going to work, and respectively a, have to make some plans. Another influential thing about Jen’s profile is the employee relations, who can help a leader, share the issue and work burdens (Neck, Manz, and Houghton 45).
3-VIEWS ON ACHIEVING GOALS
After reviewing the book concepts and theories regarding the leadership, I have realized many things, which were undone before. For Instance, taking the example of Tom, who is confused and frustrated, I realize that I cannot attain my goals if I put different things away from me. I have learned that accepting issues through assertiveness and organized them is an excellent attitude to face challenges. Interestingly, it comes from the self-leadership. Leadership is not just holding a position in the company and use the power and resources to guide others, as it is about setting the standard in the company to create the influence of Jen. Jen has changed my reviews, as, through self-effectiveness and improvements, a leader can also improve others. Different styles of leadership stay behind when it develops the ability to adopt the different behavior, depending on different conditions in the company. Managing the behavior can groom us as a leader and support other to perform according to the expectations. I think a leader like me can have a continuous personal analysis to develop a nifty behavior in the company, which can express the expected and extraordinary results (Neck, Manz, and Houghton 81).
Example from my Career
In my career, I have applied personal effectiveness in an organization. Working as a team leader, I always intended to judge my behavior with the employee. To boost the visibility of effectiveness as a leader, I wanted to derive my strengths and weakness and make decisions. Especially, when I existed in a diverse employee force, I always expected my behavior pleasant for me and other. Being a team leader, I was quite organized and optimistic, which empowered my team and me to attain the goals desirably. Enlisting task, taking time and space and conducting self-observations during my tenure in the company were inspiring, which made me a good leader.
In the end, this is to conclude that self-leadership is an integral part of leadership in different organizations. In this book review, different self-leadership strategies, Jen profile along with some insights, personal views and some example from the workplace have been provided comprehensively to derive some fundamental leadership insights.
