Reflective Journal Entries: Case Huawei Technologies Co Ltd

Journal Entries from Weeks 1-12

  • Week 1

In the business world, technology companies always attract me. In the first week, I was looking for an organization that contains the expansion capability and grew rapidly in the different international markets. There are many companies such as Samsung, LG, Apple, and many others. However, I selected Huawei Technology Co Ltd. Navigating this organization regarding its historical background was a wonderful experience for me in the first week. I navigated different sources and got historical insights about the company that helped me create the base of the case. The historical background facilitated me to understand the intention of the company. In contemporary business, Huawei Technologies Co Ltd is quite prominent, and I was quite comfortable when elaborating some business insights (Kharpal, 2018). Based on this week, I initiated further work in the next weeks. It can be said that week 1 was the base for week 2 and 3.

  • Week 2

In week two, I was looking to find a rationale regarding the selection of this organization.  Interestingly, I have found many reasons to select this company. For Instance, Huawei Technologies Co Ltd has become the largest networking company in the world. It seems interesting to navigate a firm that grew rapidly. By navigating different sources, I derive some insights regarding the growth, business expansion, and profitability. Thus, I decided to choose this company. I could find some remarkable sources to build the study and come up with the pertinent rationale. Thus, in week 2, I tried to justify this decision. It was time for me to decide the format and structure of the report. I did not want to change my decision regarding the selection of the company, and therefore, I moved forward to build the effective report (Raitis, Harikkala-Laihinen, Hassett, & Nummela, 2018).

  • Week 3

When navigating any organization, including small and large, it is imperative to investigate the background of the company. I was a wonderful experience for me to navigate the background in the third week. I found many ups and downs in the business process of the company. Based on these ups and downs, I combined different strengths and weaknesses of the company. In week 3, I enhanced my experience by investigating different strategies of companies expanding in different countries. The background of the company helped me to understand the business process, business intention, and several strategic considerations (Shen, 2014). After choosing the company and providing the rationale, the illustration of the background was necessary for me to initiate further phases of the case.

  • Week 4

The fourth week is like the backbone of the case study. By combining different sources, I identified many issues that this firm faced in different countries. However, to keep the case study limited and precise, I had to focus on only three main issues. I was a wonderful experience for me to illustrate three issues. These issues are in the limelight as far as the operations of the company in international markets are concerned. Market penetration, lack of brand recognition, and lower business growth are three main issues (Cremer & Tao, 2015). During the week, I tried to derive some impacts that this company has faced due to these issues. I navigated some exclusive sources to depict comprehensive content regarding these issues. After the elaboration, I had to choose one specific issue in the next week.  Thus, this week was quite busy, and the results were predictable.

  • Week 5

When containing the company analysis, it seems imperative to pick up one specific aspect. I selected the main issue that revolved around the whole business process of the company. I selected “Lack of Brand Recognition” as the main issue of this company in international markets, especially in the United States of America.  This week, I was looking to find a reason how this issue can become the main cause of business failure or struggle. For me, it was a different kind of struggle for Huawei, and I understood it effectively (Alon, 2003). Week 5 was the right time for me to relate the business struggle with the poor brand recognition. I spent my time on several sources and rationalized the main problem. Everything needs a rationale, and I successfully provided the rationale for this week.

  • Week 6

Week 6 was also important to me, as I had to find pertinent solutions. Making the list of solutions needed the proper homework, and I did it. For Instance, I first 3 days of the week, I reviewed the historical background of the company and current expansion initiatives to identify different loopholes.  Well, based on these insights, I managed to illustrate or list these solutions. On the 4th day of the week, I successfully made the list of solutions. These solutions were cultural integration, gamification, advertisement, social influence, and celebrity endorsement. Initially, in this research process, I understood that all solutions could not be applied to eliminate the solution. I wrote a comprehensive analysis regarding these issues to include it in the final report. I think it was the right consideration because any organization needs some alternatives to sustain the business for a long run (Low, 2015).

  • Week 7

In the first 2 days of week 7, I decided to pick up the one solution to eliminate the main issue. The main issue was the lack of brand recognition. The main solution that I selected was cultural integration. Based on the analysis and cognition, I felt the cultural integration is the suitable solution to help Huawei gain success in international markets. The remaining days of week 7 enjoyed for me to rationale the main solution and related it to the business of this networking giant. It was a tough week for me, as the cost and benefits of the solution or implementation were to be described in the limited time. Thus, in the last 2 days of week 7, I described all costs and benefits.  Plenty of work was pending. I completed the remaining work in week 8.

  • Week 8

Return on investment, Risks, and different factors affecting the implementation process were the part of the week 8. Based on my experience and the navigation of other companies, I estimated several benefits that this company could gain through the successful implementation of the solution. I evaluated all these benefits regarding business and growth. I felt that I was part of the organization. I was presenting the new strategy for the company to get rid of the problem. Further, week 8 was the right time for me to make the return on investment predictable (Buckley & Ghauri, 2015). My analysis also indicated some key factors that can make the business successful or vulnerable in the competitive international technology market. Interestingly, some reasonable sources supported my research process this week.  After this break, I took a break for a while to overview the whole process by myself.

  • Week 9

In week 9, I reviewed the case development process. Interestingly, I obtained valuable insights in this research process. I was a good experience to combine the work and examine it overall. For Instance, I evaluated some difficulties in the data collection process. Taking help from sources is huge support for the research content. All sources were effective in these days of the week, I found some new sources to collect the data. I was a great opportunity for me to improve my work and come up with solid and authentic content.

  • Week 10

In week 10, I continued improving my work. I asked myself several questions regarding the data collection, issue identification and many other aspects, I found solutions to all questions effectively. In week 10 I was focused and determined to complete the work on time. There was no need to make any presentation. However, orally, examining the work helped me identify my mistakes. I focused on this learning process and got back to work to make some changes or modifications. This experience helped me to learn things and structure my work. Of course, I used this experience and made the whole work pertinent. The most important thing is to identify the strengths and weaknesses at the right time. Thus, week 10 was the right time for me to contain improvements.

  • Week 11

In week 11, I had to make the final report or presentation. This phase contains the well-constructed combined report. Putting all together is a good experience for me to give the research a proper shape. Collecting the data is not enough, as the content is to be reshaped in a comprehensive analysis. Interestingly, instead of just focusing on the one solution, I have explained every solution and rationalized the main solution (Guerrieri, Iapadre, & Koopmann, 2005). During this week, I formatted the final report and decided about the contents, which were to be included.  The work revision was to be done in week 11. Interestingly, the whole of week 11 was used to make this whole report.  In this individual work, most of the content is a result of my finding.

  • Week 12

Week 12 is a week of evaluation. The learning and development process does not stop here. Students and other stakeholders asked questions about the company, issues, contents, structure, and sources. I prepared to give solutions to all issues or problems to demonstrate my authenticity and preciseness.  The whole report was fair, and I wanted to make it perfect by all aspects.  In week 12 it was a great chance for me to compare my report with feedback (if any) from the professor regarding the quality of work, content authenticity, and comprehensive analysis. Based on the feedback, I got a chance in week 12 to improve my report. Weeks 11 and 12 were important for me. These weeks were the results of my hard work.

The most important thing for me was to utilize all the weeks effectively. There is a limited timeline or phase for every task, and I completed each task on time successfully. I set my timeline to complete different tasks, and captivatingly, I completed before time. From week 1 to week 12, I was focused and determined to achieve goals and objectives. Every task was different from the previous task.  I got some skills and experience to collect the relevant data and portray a comprehensive analysis. Thus, finally, I have done all these weeks successfully, and I am quite satisfied with the results.
