Racial Discrimination: A Serious Workplace Issue

Racial discrimination has become a prominent issue in different organizations. At the workplace, different workers are discriminated against due to different factors (Appelt & Jarosch, 2000). In a diverse workforce, racial discrimination is a process of discriminating against a person due to his racial differences. It prevents people or employees from utilizing different opportunities in the workplace (Brief, 2008). Based on racial discrimination, the employee turnover is increasing in companies. Obviously, there are many ways to reduce racial discrimination. To deal with this serious issue, several some pertinent ways are to be chosen (Dipboye & Colella, 2013).

Educating workers

Educating workers to eliminate racial discrimination is imperative (Prescott, 2016). Employees are to be educated in terms of work ethics, collaboration, and teamwork, which is in the best interest of the company. Through education, the firm can have an educated workforce.

Encourages the Respect of Differences

Employees and all key stakeholders have to create a culture of respect. In a diverse workplace, people have to learn how to respect each person (Roush, 2008).  Understanding the differences and values of each other can carte the harmony at the workplace, and it seems one of the best solutions to prevent racial discrimination (Paludi, 2012).

Training of supervisor and manager

The training of supervisors and managers is necessary to deal with this issue as well. For Instance, managers or supervisors must be trained in a diverse workplace to manage people in terms of their roles and capabilities instead of racial differences (Price, 2011).  Employees are dependent, as they have to be treated fairly regarding many workplace aspects (Jordaan, 2016).

Reviewing the policy

The employee policy must be reviewed by the company management.  With the passage of time, the employee policy should be changed to integrate with the new workplace trends (Stainback & Tomaskovic-Devey, 2012). All stakeholders, including managers and employees, are triggered by the employee policy.  Everyone is to be penalized in case of any unfair actions (Wright & Conley, 2011).
