IDENTIFY THE MAIN POINT IN THE VIDEO
The main point in this video is motivation. In this contemporary era, experts believe that money is the great motivator. The performance of people in different organizations is good if the company pays well. However, the reward is a different thing. For a while, the reward can improve the performance of an individual. However, extraordinary rewards for the employee may lead to poor performance. Thus, the main point is motivation, and the presenter effectively navigates several options and concepts to depict the impact.
APPLY CONCEPTS FROM READINGS WITH ANALYSIS
There are several concepts, which have been derived from reading. Interestingly, the presenter comes has come up with some concepts that can be aligned. For Instance, according to the presenter in this video, three different factors can lead towards motivation. These three factors are autonomy, mastery, and purpose. These elements are the sources of motivation as well. For Instance, regarding autonomy, an individual in an organization can be self-directed. In the reading, studying the employee engagement in the firm depicts different initiatives by the management. Now, in this video, the presenter says self-direction and employee engagement can be aligned effectively to enhance some remarkable results. Mastery is also important, as it enables people to better at work. In the reading, I studied many traits regarding training and development to enhance the visibility of skills (Kouzes and Posner). However, in the video, the mastery is explained quite differently. Having fun at the workplace can motivate people to perform better and use all skills to make outputs predictable. It is a fact that the organization can streamline the purpose in the business environment. On the other hand, people working in an organization are maximizing the purpose. In the video, it has been shown that if the company treats people like people, they can contribute to making the world better.
Comparing and contrasting with concepts from class and my personal and professional experience.
My personal, professional experience is quite different. For me, money is not a motivator for me. To me, autonomy (Self-Direction) is the main motivating factor. In the class, it has been taught that management can play a role in motivating employees and enhancing performance. However, in my case, it did not happen. When working in the company, I was just delegated by the management to make some important decisions. Being a loyal employee of the company, I started identifying my strengths and weakness to improve my job performance. It was self-direction that motivated me to perforce well as compared to others.
In the class, I studied that employee rewards are given to the best performers. In an organization, the best performers are appreciated and encouraged. However, according to my professional experience, the number of rewards may not work. There are many other things that an employee needs in the company. The employee needs a friendly working environment and better engagement, which are beyond reward. Many employees were converted due to consistent rewards. Interestingly, if the company enables the pertinent working environment, it can streamline the efforts of employees, who are working at the bottom line. The working environment does not suit every employee. Different employees can get motivated and enjoy rewards in different working conditions (Kouzes and Posner).
In the end, it is to conclude that the experience of working in an organization is quite different. In the class, we learn basic things about business and management. In modern companies, the management improvises to integrate with some new trend to enable business sustainability.
