Chapter Eight: Critique
What I Agree
Several aspects are relevant to my thinking. For Instance, I agree with the point that transparency is the most significant advantage. Chinese children, due to some explicit rules, can efficiently count as compared to United States Children. I think rice paddies are going to make the difference in the classroom, and it can provide the advantage in tens of different mathematical terms such as addition and multiply. It is a fact that the hard work is a prominent habit of Chinese people and Chinese farmers are proving it. Hard work with perfectionism is quite visible in this part of the country (Adams, 2016 )
What I don’t agree
I do not admit that children growing up with the Asian language have a built-in advantage. Critically, the author has emphasized on the single position in Rice paddies. However, consistency and handwork are not to be aligned only with the rice paddies. Due to modern technology, farmers do not have to work hard. Regarding counting, it improves the mathematical sense. However, handwork and consistency is not quite visible in the contemporary era (Gladwell, 2009).
How will I support that argument?
I would like to support the argument through different factor. For instance, the process of Rice paddies seems harsh and complicated. Conversely, math tests are also complicated. Thus, the perfectionism in both methods is the significant support to the argument. Critically, there are many unnecessary things, which are aligned with rice paddies. There is a difference in each process, and learning levels are entirely different. Rice paddies contain the focus and consistency counting only, and therefore, it is going to help children in the math test. In China, every person, working in the organization, depicts its loyalty and handwork. Thus, integrating all things with rice paddies is not a good idea (Worth Books, 2017).
