Analyzing the Globalization of United States

Introduction

The globalization has emerged as a basic need of the business in this modern business era. Different countries have clarified paths to gain the success in different international markets. However, with the passage of the time, the country can face different issues regarding the globalization, and obviously, there is a need to come up with an effective policy solution, which can help the county derive some benefits.

The Country (United States)

The United States is in the limelight, as many companies of this country have expanded into different parts of the world. The country contains the potential to expand the business in developing and developed countries. Different globalization trends have been adopted by this country, which makes it quite visible in international markets.

Background of United States

Demography

The population of the United States is 326,971,407 (Tanzi, 2017). The population contains the combination of white, black, American Indian, Asian, and Pacific Islanders. People in the United States of America are racially and ethnically diverse as compared to other countries. The role of the young adult in business and many other fields is quite prominent. Women are the visible part of the labor force. Women in leadership positions in the country have been increased dramatically. Family trends are changing, as people like to live with the joint family. Also, the middle class in the United States of America is shrinking. From 1991 to 2010, middle income families fell to 59 percent from 62 percent (Schwartz, 2017)

Public health

Public health is an important sector in the United States of America. People seem health conscious in different regions. However, there are many health issues, which have put this country behind other developed countries. For Instance, obesity is a top health issue in these days, which is due to massive use of junk or fast food and beverages. However, health care system is exceptional, which is enough to make the difference.

Culture

The United States of America is a culturally diverse country. This diversity al leads towards the language diversity as well. Along with English, French, German, Spanish, and Chinese languages are spoken in this country. People, coming from different regions depict different regions associations. The American culture depicts the religious freedom. Every region has different eating and cooking habits. American culture is open, and it seems easy to adapt.

Mainstream Problem: Public Health

Negative health impacts due to expansion or globalization of America fast food chains

The prominent issue due to globalization is triggered by the public health. Despite having the obesity issues in the United States due to fast food considerations. The globalization of fast food chain has put the health of people in different countries at risk. These fast food chains such as McDonald and Burger King are expanding in several countries and justifying the competitive positioning to make minds of people. Thus, despite knowing facts regarding the obesity, these companies want to create the international influences. On the other hand, massive use of fast foods and beverages is creating negative impacts on people’s health (Jolly, et al., 2013).

Different organizations of the United States, including fast food chains and beverages are operating in many countries. Due to hugequality, taste and effective marketing strategies a, people have become more assertive in making the buying decisions. Beyond the health impacts, these customers are becoming loyal to these brands. The globalization a price of these counties is just to make profits, and it has emerged as a big issue(Lee, 2004).

With the perspective of the globalization, these particular public health issues are directly related to the internationalization or globalization of global fast food chains. In the United States, it has been revealed that the sales of fast food products have been declined due to this public health issue Thus, to fill this space; the globalization provides the support to these companies to contain the business sustainability. Similarly, not only fast foods, other beverage companies of the United States are talking benefits from this globalization process (Lee, 2004)

Causes and Effects

Flexible rules and regulations, imposed by host countries, have helped American companies to make the successful entry. Also, in the globalization process, the management of these companies intends to shape behavior or people, which shapes their eating habits. Like the United States, companies are targeting people, which enable the positive buying decisions.  Thus, the biggest cause is applying the same strategy in other countries, which is creating the negative impact on people’s health. Specific to the public health issue, this is linkedto the US globalization, the visible effect is the child obesity. It is a threat to the coming generation in different countries. Thus, the United States of America has to think bigger now. It has to restrict the globalization of firms by considering all these causes and effects (Liogier, Barabanov, Miljkovic, Shaik, & Miranda, 2013).

The Impact of Globalization

The United States has emphasized on the globalization, which is based on quality. Different companies in this country are looking to start operations in developing countries due to low business costs. Producing products and services at low cost and sell them in the international market to enhance the visibility of profitability are successful approaches for the company. However, regarding the impact, it looks negative, as people are using junk foods despite knowing all negative consequences. Interestingly, American companies know all these effects and causes. However, these companies are intended to gain the success through business and its sustainability (Zhang, 2016).

Policy Solution to the Problem

The globalization of the country must be integrated with the new regulations for global markets. The policy solution by the United States to reduce the impact of this issue is to regulate these companies and restrict different operations. Technically, the most appropriate strategy is to monitor the production process of these companies to restrain them from using prohibited ingredients. It can be started from the United States and expanded in different countries. When globalizing the business, the United States of America has to work with world health organization (WHO) to regulate these firms and create the best impact on people.

Effectiveness of Solution

The effectiveness of the solution can be justified through creating the moral or ethical values. Instead of just focusing on profitability and business expansion, the globalization process must carry some ethical considerations, as far as the health issues in different countries are concerned. The county can start from fast food and beverage companies and depict the effective globalization process. It seems an example for other food companies to concentrate on this public health issue. The most important thing is to be aware of the impact, which can be created through the globalization process. The policy solution is designed to create the positive impact on people’s health (Lee, 2004).

Conclusion

In the end, it is to conclude that the intention of the United States regarding the globalization is different as compared to other countries. It depends on globalization strategies, which can create both, positive and negative impacts. Public health issues such as obesity is quite prominent due to the globalization of American firms. It is important to execute or implement the policy solution to reduce the visibility of negative health impacts. The modern business era needs moral and ethical values in the globalization process, which also enables the long-term business sustainability.
