American Government and American Constitution

Take a few moments to reflect on the events going on in the United States today, and imagine that you are a framer of the U.S. Constitution. Do you believe that your goals for the creation of the Constitution might be the same as those of the Framers in the 18th century? Why, or why not? What would you have done differently from or similarly to the Framers?

Historians and constitutional experts consider Framers of American constitution people ahead of their time. Their genius is evident in the framing of the American Constitution, which has stood the test of time and the document itself proved to be one the most influential political-legal document in human history. However, we must also acknowledge that a part of the American Constitution deal with the matters and subjects that were more relevant during that period when the Framers of American Constitution were devising it. Therefore, that part of the Constitution has become subject to debate in the current political system.

For instance, the bearing of arms is a constitutional right, which Makers of the American Constitution acknowledged in the Constitution. However, in the contemporary world, it is a controversial right, which acknowledgment has yielded law and order challenges for states. However, we must also recognize that though American Constitution is a stubborn document that requires an enormous effort to amend it, it is still an amendable document. It requires broad consensus to amend the document and to introduce essential changes.

I strongly believe that Framers of American Constitution produced an almost perfect document that was based on separation of power and had an inherent system of checks and balances on the federal government. For instance, legislature, executive, and judiciary keep checking on each other. Also, this also allows the federal government to move on a moderate path. Furthermore, it ascertains the state institutions function independently, and no other institution could adversely influence their capacity and performance.

If I had been asked to produce a constitution for the United States, I would have produced a similar document. It is because American Constitution is very comprehensive and powerful legal document, which remains contemporary and relevant to this day. However, I would have made the process of amending the document less cumbersome than it is at present.
