For Instance, the manufacturing process of the smartphone is causing 16 kg of CO2 equivalent emissions. Interestingly, the impact of using the smartphone is minimum than the manufacturing process. When manufacturing, there is a need for plastic, derived from the crude oil. Silicon and wafers are other elements in the manufacturing process. Thus, massive production of the smartphone is hitting the natural resources badly. The massive production of the smartphone is a huge threat to the planet and finite resources. Due to an immense usage of the smartphone in different parts of the world, the visibility of e-waste is increasing. According to 2014 reports, the global electronic waste is 42 million tons. It is a fact that this e-waste is created the impact on air, water, and soil (Dw.com, 2017). Thus, it is a perfect time a for different smartphone organizations to think big and contain some strategic considerations to reduce the visibility of the negative environmental impact. The usability of smartphone provides benefits to the economy and society. However, the negative impact on the environment is also a prominent factor, which is to be considered.
