The “MyJohnDeere” Platform: Case Study

1-What governance approach did John Deere appear to have adopted? Why?

John Deere has adopted eco-friendly governance approaches. The most important thing for him was to provide access of the data to the different stakeholders such as farmers, ranchers, landowners, banks, and government workers. The purpose was to let all these key stakeholders learn how to contain the green initiatives and standard process to enhance the visibility of the eco-friendly systems. It was the best approach by John Deere to let all players have real-time information about the new trends and make the difference. It was a kind of information system or structure, which was initiated by John Deere.   The pertinent rationale is the development of the employees with the skills, and the employees and other key stakeholders are quite up to it. The technological skill enhancement and immense contributions are the output of this particular approach (Pearlson, Saunders, & Galletta, 2016).

2-What difficulties do you think an “old” heavy industry player such as John Deere encountered initially when proposing to develop the MyJohnDeere platform

When developing the MyJohnDeere platform, resistance from the company employee and the culture is the main difficulty, which has been encountered by John Deere. Being an old player in the industry, it seems pertinent for him to analyze or identify the resistance level regarding this development. In addition, when considering this competitive and appropriate IT system for the stakeholders, it seems tough for him to train the employees regarding usage, as it might increase the cost. However, through strategic considerations, he encountered these issues. It is a fact that John Deere, being an old player in the industry, knows the possible issues when initiating new things or conducting the change. Thus, through pertinent stakeholder engagement, these difficulties have been encountered effectively. The most important for John Deere was the sustainability of MyJohnDeere platform for different players, as it could lead towards the sustainability and improvements (Pearlson, Saunders, & Galletta, 2016).
