Global Healthcare Strategy

Question: Why do so many global strategies fail–despite companies' powerful brands and other border-crossing advantages?

Business expansion has become one of the integral strategies to acquire new customers, augment market share, and boost profitability. Regardless, the probability of failure despite a powerful brand and cross-border advantage is high. For instance, many organizations with their global strategies fail because they need to pay more attention to the influence of the culture. Interestingly, the need and demand for the products can be in the limelight, but the global strategy only works when there is cultural integration. Of course, it is due to differences and lack of adaptation at the international level that the organization with the powerful brand moves early to expand globally, as it may fail due to lack of early mover advantage (Ghemawat, 2018, p. 109). Insufficiency in planning and integration has become one of the primary reasons behind the failure of global strategy. Inadequate planning and execution at the global level have become the reasons for strategy failure.

The cross-border advantage is also in the spotlight, as customers may be living with similar lifestyles and needs. Nonetheless, the company's struggle starts when the firm remains certain about its current portfolio. The example of home appliances is relevant, as the combination of cultural, administrative, economic, and geographical differences can compel the organization to come up with a variety of appliances. Standardization may work for a while, but improvisation in the other regions is integral to evading the probability of failure. Companies usually fail because they see the labor cost advantage instead of comprehending the dynamics in the new country. The most important thing is to understand the industry's economies, as it is one of the finest ways to localize the business (George, 2018). Eventually, a combination of flexibility and resilience is needed to avoid this failure, and it is the best way to move forward (Ghemawat, 2018).
