Swot Explanation
Strengths
Silver Airways has a wide-ranging network within Bahama and Florida. The company serves almost eighteen destinations with nearly 125 flights (Dazzy, 2019). This regional presence is one of the prominent strengths. The company has a modern fleet, and ATR 42-600 is an excellent example of it as far as fuel efficiency and reliability are concerned (Schlappig, 2023). Indeed, the firm can attract environmentally conscious customers. The firm also has good partnerships with other airlines. Alliance with the United and American airlines have helped to improve reach and booking (Business Wire, 2019). The seaborne acquisition has been a significant strength because it has increased its reach. The firm has reached the Caribbean and North US regions due to this acquisition. These strengths have become the source of competitive advantage in the competitive airline industry (Hemmerdinger, 2019).
Weaknesses
Comparatively, Silver Airways needs more brand recognition, especially outside of its primary markets. Lack of brand recognition has created hurdles in growth and expansion. Even customer acquisition has been a significant paradox due to this limited brand recognition (Amason, 2011). The firm needs to be financially stable. The firm has stumbled in the past due to financial flux, indicating the potential vulnerabilities (Cranky Flier, 2023). The firm comparatively has a small fleet size, and it also restrains the organization from expanding. This small fleet size makes the operations inflexible. Route variety is also limited compared to other major airlines (Ruiz, 2023). The firm has depended on short-haul flights to cover specific regions. It also restrains the organization to protect long-haul flights as far as the needs of the diverse range of customers are concerned. Technology needs to be updated. The firm has benefitted from certain aspects of its technological infrastructure. The lack of changes and upgrades makes smooth operations less probable (Adrangi & Hamilton, 2023).
Opportunities
Silver Airways has an opportunity to capitalize on the Seaborne. It is an excellent opportunity to leverage the seaborne network and enhance its reach to justify its expansion and growth (Silver Airways, 2022). The most important thing is to augment its existence in North US regions and the Caribbean. Sharing people, processes, and technologies is the right approach to make the expansion valuable with an adequate return on investment (Dringoli, 2016). The most important thing is expanding routes and destinations. Suppose the corporations leverage their alliances, partnerships, and strengths. Travel demand is increasing with time, and it is the best time to expand the routes (NIMB Staff, 2023). Sustainability has been a new normal in the airline industry. The firm needs to streamline fuel-efficient fleets and eco-friendly practices to improve its image and acquire environmentally conscious customers (Leon Software, 2021). Integrating with the advanced technology has been a vital opportunity to differentiate its flight operation. For instance, it can target tech-sassy travelers by upgrading its website, booking applications, and overall customer experiences. Making some shifts in segmentation is also one of the viable opportunities. The firm can add business travelers to the customer segments. The firm can streamline competitive prices (fares) with appropriate schedules (GNV Airport, 2023).
Threats
Silver Airways can stumble due to varying fuel prices, as it can influence the cost structure and pricing approaches. The impact on the cost and profitability is evident (Bedi, 2023). The firm operates in an intense rivalry. The expansion process has become a hurdle because existing airlines have created barriers for the new entrants. Airlines have already established a good brand image and extensive networks, making it challenging to beat them (Statista Research Department, 2023). There have been some economic downturns. Economic variations can influence travel patterns. Changing environmental laws is also a threat. The firm strives for sustainability according to rules, but it can enhance the operational cost in many ways. The negative impact on fleet modernization will also be evident due to these changing eco-friendly regulations. Political instability can be a significant threat. For instance, regions can show political instability, especially the Caribbean, which can create a negative impact on travel flow. The negative effect on tourism and business travel is unfavorable for the airline (Statista, 2023).
Goals and Objectives
Strategic Goal 1: Emerge as a Leading Airline in the North US and Caribbean.
Importance: The firm's acquisition is valuable because business expansion and growth have been the primary purpose. Thus, this acquisition provides an opportunity to leverage network and brand awareness in these regions. It is all about reducing excessive dependence on the Bahamas and Florida and becoming more dynamic in multiple areas (Jeong & Park, 2023).
Objective 1: The objective is to align with Seaborne's network impeccably.
The firm will ensure effective and smooth baggage, booking, and scheduling operations by aligning this network.
Objective 2: The objective is to boost the brand presence and image in North America and the Caribbean
The most important thing is to initiate compelling marketing campaigns to enhance the visibility of targeting, attraction, and positioning. Streamlining the well-integrated network is imperative to make the customer aware of potential benefits.
Strategic Goal 2: Enhancing Operational Competence and Cost Efficacy
Importance: It is one of the critical considerations as far as resource optimization is concerned. The organization needs to unlock the synergies between these two airline giants. The combination of sustainability and profitability will be maintained through this goal. Indeed, the firm is fully aware of the economic (financial) and sustainability practices. It will help to make the operations efficient to set the foundation for excessive profitability and evade the financial flux. It will further help the organization to invest in the sustainability practices needed in the airline industry (Prasad, 2015).
Objective 1: The objective is to make operations standardized with the improved infrastructure.
The firm will merge maintenance procedures, training programs, and booking protocols to reduce costs and bring more efficiency.
Objective 2: The objective is to enhance fleet utilization and optimization.
The firm will augment the aircraft utilization (usage) along with a significant reduction in flight redundancy.
Strategic Goal 3: Diversifying Customers and Revenue Streams
Importance: The firm will get out of the vacation travel and set the ground for the new customer base. It is a vital change in the customer segment as far as the unique needs and expectations are concerned. This new customer segment will help to enhance sales and revenues. It is all about reducing the dependence on the existing segment and becoming more dynamic in the airline industry. The market situation is evolving, and the firm needs to be flexible and resilient. This segmentation will facilitate becoming more resilient and competitive (McDonald, 2012).
Objective 1: The objective is to come up with attractive and competitive travel packages for business customers.
Improvisation in scheduling and pricing is vital to enhance the visibility of attraction in the new regions. Of course, business travelers will have some expectations, and fulfilling them through these activities is critical.
Objective 2: The objective is to develop dedicated cargo operations.
It is relevant because the firm will utilize and leverage Seaborne 's cargo capabilities. Importantly, offering a well-educated cargo service can become a competitive factor.
Conclusion
It concludes that Silver Airways has the potential to make a difference in the competitive airline industry. Swot analysis highlighted the business situation, especially in the context of internal and external business climate. The acquisition of Seaborne has been a groundbreaking consideration that changed business dynamics. Based on strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, the paper has simplified three specific goals along with their importance and objectives. Integrating with the Seaborne network, enhancing operational efficiency, and diversifying customers and revenues are three primary strategic goals. Relevant objectives have shown a relationship with these goals or strategic intents. However, the company needs to be flexible and resilient due to new trends in the airline industry.
